The Government of Uttar Pradesh is committed to protecting, caring and providing for the welfare and wellbeing of its elderly/senior citizens. The Govt. strives to create an ecosystem where all Indians can age gracefully and live a life of dignity, with focus on concerted and synergised action on the existing and emerging needs of the senior citizens. Some major initiatives of the state are:
Old Age/Farmer Pension scheme
Under Old Age/Farmer Pension scheme, those old aged people who are 60 years of age or above and whose income from all sources in rural area is up to Rs. 46,080/- and in Urban areas Rs. 56460/-, are eligible under pension scheme. Under this scheme, people of 60 years or above will be given a pension amount @ RS. 500/- per month on quarterly basis. Eligible candidates can apply online through the portal http://sspy-up.gov.in/. Entire process is online right from application till disbursement of amount.
Uttar Pradesh Parents and Senior Citizen Feeding and operation of Old Age
Homes In all the 75 districts of state, old age homes are being operated according to the provisions of manual after publication of The Uttar Pradesh Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2014. Capacity of each old age home in every district is 150.
Complete facilities like free accommodation, food, clothing, medicines, entertainment, personal care are being provided to the residents of old age homes being operated on PPP mode through NGOs. In these old age homes clean drinking water (R.O.) is available for senior citizens.
